Entire Whistle Collection FS. (SOLD ! )

Greetings All, after happily playing Whistles, Soprano, Alto and Tenor Recorders for the last two years, I’ve reached the point where trying to keep the various fingerings strait in my head is holding me back. I have decided to sell my entire Whistle collection and concentrate on the Alto Recorder. Hopefully, I might progress in my playing better when my energies aren’t so “scattered”.

I’m currently up to my ears with a house renovation project so am pressed for time. I will only sell the ENTIRE COLLECTION TOGETHER.

All whistles are in excellent condition. I am fanatical about cleanliness and have always washed out and dried each whistle after playing. There is no “patina” or tarnishing on any of the whistles.

As an added bonus I am including a Yamaha Tenor Recorder with Susato keys added to holes 3 and 4. The keys make the stretch easier to manage. The recorder alone was over one hundred dollars new. This is only a year old and in like new condition with case.

I don’t mind letting these go at a discount as I’ve spent a lot of fun time on this board and have learned so much.

The list of items is below…

I will sell the ALL OF THE WHISTLES, plus the RECORDER together for 125.00$ with insured U.S. priority mail postage included. (to U.S. addreses)

FIRST, the Un-Tweaked stock whistles…

  • Sweetheart Mello - D whistle, wood laminate (permali) construction. with padded, zippered cloth case. Lovely tone and good tuning.

  • Hoover Low G and A set. 2 tubes, one fipple peice. PVC construction with decorative tuning slide Brass band. beautiful tone and comfortable hole spacing. Mack did a really nice job on these. Included with a hand sewn denim roll case.

  • Hoover Whitecap on a Key of Bb Nickle Generation tube. Like new condition, nice tone, modest volume.

  • Hoover Bb Blacktop fipple on a Hoover aluminum Bb tube. I had asked Mack for a Bb with easy hole spacing to finger. This one is very easy to play and has a nice rich tone and low to medium volume.

And now the “Tweaked” whistles. My goal in the whistle tweaking was to have whistles which had a more pure, less “airy” or “scratchy” tone. I also needed to play in an apartment so wanted a little less volume. I carefully glued a 1/16" thick sliver of cedar wood to one side of the fipple airway. This both cleaned up the tone considerably and reduced the overall volume slightly. In some cases it was necessary to epoxy a new blade of aluminum or brass to the existing labium ramp in order to get the tone I was looking for. These whistles are a collection of all of the “keepers”. The dozens of whistles where the results were dissapointing have been tossed. These play and look very nice…

  • Susato B Natural, Two Pc. Kildare model, Beautiful pure tone, with low to medium volume.

  • Humphrey Eb brass tube with a tweaked Feadog fipple on it. This one is awesome if you ever wanted a Eb whistle. Excellent tone and perfect intonation and appearance.

  • Feadog key of C, Nickle tube. My favorite C whistle. Very nice tone and excellent intonation. with a zippered case.

  • Walton key of C whistle with brass tube. Low volume, very pure tone

  • Clark Sweetone key of D, Natural unpainted, excellent shape, no rust or tarnish. Very easy player with purish tone. Still has that conical bored “hollowness” to the sound.

  • Key of B Natural aluminum Mack Hoover tube with Tweaked Sweetone Fipple on it, low to medium volume, very easy hole spacings.

  • Generation D with brass tube. this tweaking job came out well. Medium volume, pure tone. I neatly reamed out a copuple of tone holes to improve the intonation. The tuning now is much better than stock.

Once again, The ENTIRE COLLECTION PLUS RECORDER is 125.00$ , U.S Postal money order only please, I’m not set up for pay pal, sorry. I’ll pay for the shipping. If anyone is interested please Private Mail me.

Even though I’ll now be playing only the Recorder I’ll still be lurking on the board from time to time. I still like Irish Traditional music.
