Hey, anyone know if there might be a clarke low D in the works? If so when, when I tell you! (falls down sobbing)
thanx,
jeff
There have been rumours of a Clarke low D in the design phase for at least a couple of years now, but I’ve never heard of anyone ever actually seeing or playing one.
I wish there would be such a whistle–I think it has the potential to be a great whistle.
Best,

Won’t you all end up tweaking it anyway? ![]()
So why not get a Shaw, and do something about the wind requirement I hear so much about, if it’s really that unmanageable ? Try matches in the windway, quit smoking, circular perspiration, Ventoline…
Well, as I started this thread, I also Emailed the good people at Clarke. I just got their response:
Hi Jeff,
The answer is not at present. Eventually, though I can’t say when. We are up to our eyes in keeping up with the great demand, worldwide, for our current tinwhistles!
When we finally do make a low D we will announce it on our website.
Best wishes,

People need to stop bothering them; people obviously need to stop purchasing their standard size whistles in till they can get low whistles in to production.

We are in the process of developing, for Clarke, a number of Low whistles, starting with the Low D.

Odd thing is, the breath requirement for the Shaw low-D doesn’t seem any greater than that of other keys. I have a low-D and an A, and find the D easier to play. That breathy sound is perfect for low whistles, and I think Clarke would make a great one.
That’s great news Jim! Thanks for the info. Just knowing you guys are working on it will keep me happy for some time.
