Christmas came early this year

This year I decided to give myself a real treat for Christmas when I ordered a tunable Alto F whistle from Colin Goldie. I received it in the mail this morning and I think I am in love… The whistle has everything I want in a low whistle, the exact balance between tone chiff and breathiness and it totally matches my playing style.

The whistle was well worth waiting for and though expensive I believe it was a bargain and worth every penny.

Colin Goldie’s way of letting his customers choose their whistle over the phone is brilliant!!! I received an email from Brigitte saying that Colin had finished a batch of Alto F’s and that I should leave a phone number where I could be reached. Sure enough, later that afternoon he called and he played all three whistles allowing me to pick out the one I thought matched my taste. We did also discuss how the whistles played, if it was an easy blower and any other features of the whistles. I didn’t go for the easy blower as I thought it lacked the distinct sound I wanted and after some further discussions about how much you could push the whistle, I decided to go for the whistle that was in between the easy blower and the tricky one…

I can’t describe how happy I am with the whistle and Colin and Brigitte are absolutely a dream to deal with!

I want to take this opportunity to thank them both for making a simple whistle player very, very, happy!!

Cheers,
Anders

I got my Low D on Monday. I went for a ‘big-hole’ (tricky?) model. It booms from the bell to the sweet top D, two octaves up (and beyond). :open_mouth:

Some say it sounds like a ‘Cosmic Drainpipe’.
Others, that its more like a ‘Higgs Boson’ whizzing out of the LHC! :really:

All we know is…its called an ‘Overton’!

Agree with everyting you say about Brigitte & Colin

BS.

Hi Anders - congrats on the new whistle - I know how happy you must be!!! I’m on pins & needles waiting for my Forbes flute which hopefully will be under the tree by Christmas.

Enjoy your new friend,

Deisman

My Goldie Overton F is my favourite!!

I’m waiting patiently for Santa to fulfill his promise.

Well, the Overton is definitely more common to find than the Higgs Boson which is yet to be discovered…

I just love that ‘Cosmic Drainpipe’ sound from the Overton low whistles!!!

Cheers,
Anders
