New Overtons just arrived...

It always seems like Christmas around here when someone receives a new whistle, so, I just wanted to share a quick moment of joy with you. I just got a package from Colin and Brigitte Goldie. Three whistles in the keys of Bb, Low F and tunable low D. These are, without exception, the finest whistles I have ever had the pleasuure of playing. The workmanship, the balance, the fullness through both octaves are all stunning. I really was blown away (no pun intended!). Even my wife, who inavariably leaves the room when I play, was impressed with how rich they sounded. Now the corker..my eight year old daughter, who made her first stage appearance recently with a Dixon High D, immediately swiped the Bb and will not give it up. She’s going to play it at a July 4th event in my local township.

I’ve bored you long enough…so here’s two two parting pieces of advice..one is get on Colin’s waiting list for some whistles, and, second, when he has a batch ready, spend the money to phone him in Germany for a listen. I had a lovely 30 minutes conversation with him, in which he played several from each batch to let me choose which ones I liked best. Wow, can he ever play! He’s also a very congenial fellow to boot.

Cheers,
Matt

I’m in the process of ordering a low d from Colin as well, and I totally agree: those two (Colin and Brigitte) really have some class. Ordering my whistle has actually been REALLY FUN, well…even MORE fun than I would’ve normally been.

If either of you two read this, thanks again. (No I CAN’T say it enough) Haha.
