Y’all (well, most) missed a great show on a perfect summer evening. Here are a couple of pictures, just to make you feel bad…
A couple of the Ladies (sorry, I’m bad about names). Joanies whistles and flute in foreground:
Joanie on an O’Riordan
Remaining Lady, plus a fellow who played Bouzouki and keyboard
And finally, a closeup of Joanie:
BTW-- apart from several O’Riordans, Joanie also played a Burke or two.
They also had two championship step dancers with them who appeared from time to time and another musician who came on and played a French Canadian fiddle tune and did some clogging simultaneously. He also did some step dancing. Again, I don’t know names.
Would love too and I’d bring you a crate… Unfortunately, with two kids and a hotel to run = too little time… If you’re ever in Belgium though… Or if I ever do make it back to the States…
I’m still waiting for CTL to come over here. The nearest they’ll come to me this year is the UK but that’s still a quite a trip. I love their music (once made me cry in front of my computer watching them on www.woodsongs.com, soooooo beautifull).
One of the reasons I took on learning to whistle, now about 1.5 years ago (and still a long, long way to go).
Thanks for reminding me about that performance on the WoodSongs site. I have to go see it again. It’s worth seeing even if you are lucky and go to a live concert.
I had some trouble with the WoodSongs link posted, and when I did finally get to the site, it was a mess… I’m thinking there may be a problem with it… perhaps hacked, or maybe just being edited… but it ended up shutting down my whole web session.
