Now it appears that Brian is pretty frustrated at the beginning and the end of the tune… I wonder what was bothering him? The piping sounded wonderful, thanks for sharing this!
What are those two tunes. They are so very well known and they’d be a nice set to add to my collection.

Two lovely hornpipes : Mrs Crotty and The humours of Tullycrine. They’re on Brian’s last cd.
My thought is he was most likely annoyed at his drones, and later his playing. Even when he makes a slight mistake, his piping is extraordinary. Certainly my favorite living piper by far.
That one got added to my favorites on YouTube pretty durn fast, I can tell you!

The piper is John Hughes of Newtownabbey, playing his original Coyne C# set.
Lovely playing on Brian’s part, as always – though the video is significantly askew from the sound, at least on my setup here at home. He started playing regulators on the video well before they turned up in the music. Or perhaps that’s just a particularly advanced piping technique…he is awfully talented, after all.

P.S. I sure hope whoever posted that clip had Brian’s permission.
It was probably the air conditioning. When Brian brought out the C set for the 2nd half of the concert, the air conditioning noise was just sharp of his drones. It was an interesting, although distracting, effect, and Brian commented on it more than once during his set.

I don’t know what you’re talking about. wow. what a great player. Now didn’t someone say not too long ago that you’re not supposed to lift your fingers more than 1/4" from the tone holes??

I want to post a clip of Mikie Smyth, but Patrick, do you think I should ask Mikie’s permission? It’d be his playing “The Downfall of Paris”, which he did an amazing job at. It’s my video taking, his playing and I know diddly squat about copyright junk.

Copyright is complicated but basically you should ask Mikie Smyth for his permission before putting his performance on a public forum (“publishing”).
If you make the recording you own it, but owning it doesn’t mean you can do what you want with it. Mikie’s performance is a “work” for copyright purposes and he has a certain intellectual property in it.
Besides, it’s good manners to ask.
