Hi guys,I was with At First Light last night and they have added Francis McKilduff (Sp) on Pipes ,Low whistle and Bodhran.
They played some new stuff (well, new to me)and it was fantastic.
It was some tune that I didn’t catch the name of with both pipes playing in a way I had never heard before,I’ll be putting the clip up tonight.
You know where.
Phil
At First Light.
It’s up.
Cool, thanks.
For other forum members: if, like me, you were wondering what this is about, Phil owns the Kerry Whistle site. He has movie clips of several groups, including a group called “At First Light”:

The new clip is called “At First Light_Towersay_05”. It is 12.8 MB in wmv format, so it takes a bit of time to download.

Just reduced the Mb to 6.
Did you like the clip?
Phil.
It sounds more like an experiment than a tune. Interesting.

Am I missing something? Like where is this clip? ![]()
MAW, its nested.
1). Go to this link: http://kerrywhistles.com/
2). Click on the words enter site
3). From the top menu bar, select Movies
4). You will get a new page with a left sidebar menu. Select At First Light
5). This will cause a series of links to movies to come up on the right side of the page. The newest one is at the bottom of the list. Click on the word view to watch on-line or save to store the clip on your PC.
Feel free to try them all, of course. Phil has a bunch of great clips on there.

He has some nice video of Lunasa, or did the last time I checked.
Wow! Thanks, Phil, these are incredible! You can see the complete mastery of one’s instument, as I see it, in the second clip… wonderful playing!
This a great resource, Phil!!
Thanks DJM, maybe I need to spend a little more time developing my IT abilities

Phil’s site is a tremendous resource for a lot of folk. His filming of the players is generally of what they (pipers) are playing (fingers), but you can, from time to time, also watch what other things they are doing to make their music… ie: bellows, bag, regs, tired leg and aching back maintenance.
Good on ya Phil,
I’ve watched heaps of your movies and enjoyed them all as I am both a piper and a low D whistle player. Thanks for putting a few movies of ‘At first ligt’ (McSherry) up - I do love his piping and it’s good to see him in action.
I’m a little envious that you get to go to all these concerts and are able to get those back stage interviews.
Keep up the good work.
It sounds more like an experiment than a tune. Interesting.
If you are familiar with the music of Finbar Furey or Leo Rowsome you’ll recognise the tune.

The way McSherry plays is just amazing to me, like his hands are vibrating, and that chanter is alive. Shows how much can be done with lifting off the knee, by varying degrees…
Particularily love that last one: At First Light_Towersey_05b
As a follow up here, does anyone have the notes (jpg/gif) for The Old Man Rocking the Cradle? Searched the internet but can na find a ting. Thanks.
That’s. So. Beautiful. I think I’ll watch this again and again. Ahhh..
Is that the name of the 2005 b video?
It sounds pretty tempting.
especially the Clip of Pasquel playing it. and the tune he just barely starts afterwards is a fav of mine too.
