Boise Session details - Aug. 24th

The Boise session is still going on! If you think you might be able to come you are more than welcome. We can also provide space for overnighters, thought it will be a bit like indoor camping.

– Session scheduled for Saturday, August 24th, 3 PM to 9 PM. Or any times in between if you can’t/don’t want to stay the whole time.

– Address: Paul’s house in Boise, Idaho. Directions available on request.

– Potluck dinner: bring whatever you like. Current dishes coming are Mexican chicken and rice, potatoes au gratin, an undetermined dessert, and homemade sweet bread. Could use side dishes, main dishes. For the most part it will be BYOB, talk to clarinetwhistler about the beverage accomodations.

– Max and Beth will be giving a somewhat short demonstration of broadsword sparring in the back yard

We’ve got 6 to 10 people coming as of now, but more are welcome!

–HyperBeth

Two more locals are coming! A spectator and a guy who has played guitar for 20 years but never Irish.

Hmm we are losing water now…two cancellations this morning.

Three definites, one non-irish definite, one as-far-as-I-know, one local to decide tonight, and possibly bring a fiddlin’ local, two out-of-towners to decide tomorrow…

Paul we are going to need to make this a monthly thing so people get the idea that they are supposed to COME!

I agree. It may take a bit to get established, but some type of regular Boise session would be good to have. We’ll get there. Out of curiousity, who are the local fiddlers?

Dunno, Johnnie says he knows a lady at Dorsey music who plays “fiddle and probably a dozen other instruments” but he hasn’t asked her yet (wanted to check with me first) and doesn’t know if she will come on short notice.

Hey we got both out of towners! Don’t worry, they are staying at The Ava-lon hotel

WOW!! can I have an AMEN?!?!?!

What a great night! Got to meet Paul, his lovely wife Barb - and their super-cute kids. To speak nothing of the ultra-talented bunch of local musicians.

I had a chance to meet a local uilleann piper, and we chatted reeds, chanters and all things related for some time. Even convinced Steph our fellow whistling friend to drive two hours up and back with her kids to join us!

Oh yeah…did I mention the FOOD??? Holy freakin YIKES A HOOTIE!!! What a spread! We had some soul food last night to be sure, and the dinner entertainment was provided by four year old Matthew. What a clown…“WHY I OTTA…!!!”

All in all, a wonderful night. I’m now thinking I’ll have to make the pilgrimage to Boise on a more regular basis!

All the best!!!

Thanks, Brian!

We had a great time and it was a real pleasure hosting our Boise Session. Lots of delicious food, good cheer, and great music. Not to mention the fact that Barb, the kids, and I got to meet an awesome group of new friends!

We’re already talking about the next get together and you’re certainly more than welcome up here anytime you can make it, Brian.

Cheers!
Paul, aka Clarinetwhistler.

Hey Paul, I’m definitely up for the next time! I can make more potatoes-from-a-box too, heehee.

Gotta get together sometime in the near future so I can pick up the stuff we forgot there, too! Private message

What a great picture! Looks like you all had a blast.

If I had been there, I would have been behind that potted shrub…
