Bri - is that Saturday or Sunday?
Susan

Come on over Susan, it’ll be fun! Tell me in advance (like today!) and I’ll bring your CDs!

Perhaps we could make a date of a Saturday night gathering too?? Susan? Cees???

Let me know, and we’ll put it all together

B~

OOOOOH, I’m there!! Let’s do it, Brian! But will Beth be down that early? For some reason I thought she was coming down Sunday morning…

I volunteer my place!!

Beth should be pulling in late morning Saturday. She’ll be leaving for Boise again on Sunday evening, so for her sake if nothing else, I think Saturday night would work better.

I MAY be able to grab another musician or two, but time’s short, so it may just be us. No Tom this time, alas! But I’m sure we can have fun nonetheless.

Drop me an email with your phonenumbers again guys, and I’ll call everyone, and make the arrangements.

What a great weekend! Thanks Brian and Kiirsi for being such great hosts. Thanks Susan for being the responsible adult in the car! (The rest of you do NOT want to see a car full of whistlers whistling on the road. Or changing lanes either!)

We will definitely have to do this again soon!

PS Ben wants to come next time

Man. . .I sure wish that I could go, but California is just too far away.

This is the responsible adult speaking. If it had been my daughter driving, I definitely would have put a stop to it, but even though these were very nice, inoffensive, but obviously whistle-brained people who were in control of my life, I still don’t know them all that well and decided I couldn’t demand that Brian stop playing his whistle while driving 75 on the freeway. Had a fun time but realized you either have to be a) young, or b) gifted, to pick up songs quickly by ear. Beth listens to a song once and she’s nearly got it. As for me, I listen to a six note loop on the Amazing Slow Downer and finally have it down after two days. I’m so jealous!
Susan

You’re more than welcome! I was honored to have you guys at my “humble abode.” It was a great time. I wish I could’ve played more, but with two little kids climbing all over me, oh well…It was still a blast listening to you guys, and next time I PROMISE I will have practiced more and can join in better. Especially after listening to the CDs, Beth, I will have the tunes in my head! Thanks again for all your work on those!

As for a car full of whistlers…I heard this rumor that Brian was whistling while driving…in spite of Dale’s sad story:

Just teasing Bri, and thanks again for coming, everyone! (Glad you made it back safely, Beth  )

Hey Susan! After my brain cleared from Session Fog I decided that there was quite a bit of driving behavior that will not be going on next time. Bri next time I may take your keys!

And don’t feel jealous about the by-ear thing…it’s all short term memory, I can only remember the first bit of Langstrom’s Pony now, hehe. Besides, you saw how useful it was to have a music reader on call!

On the way home I looped that key-of-F lunasa tune on my minidisc recorder for a good half hour to try and get it into my head. My poor boyfriend wouldn’t have lasted through the second repeat! hahaha

Great times and great craic guys!

–Rambling Beth

Oh yeah and I forgot - not only good sessions and good friends but a new whistle! A rather good (in my opinion) generation nickel F.

Now I can learn Lunasa’s Aibreann (first CD, track 4) - or try to at least. Anyone know how to SAY “Aibreann” by any chance?
