Since no one complained about the last one we are having another. Anyone who would like to come is welcome. It will be on a Saturday from 3 to 9 PM, roughly, with a potluck dinner.
Let me know if you think you might want to come.

Just wanted to move this one up. We had a great time and would be honored to have any of our out-of-town friends join in again as well as folks who feel like a little trip to Boise that weekend!
Here’s the official news bulletin:
Hear ye, hear ye!
There is a mighty struggle to give life to a regular monthly Boise session. You are hereby invited to the next session, Sept. 28th (last Saturday of the month). If you know any other likely suspects who might be interested, let’s start spreading the word. Currently the sessions are at Paul’s house so he will have ultimate say on who and how many can come, but if we get a large enough group perhaps we can find a pub or coffee house somewhere. I suspect that will be after I have gone back East, though - I’ll only be in Boise till November 20th or so.
Anyway - back to this month’s session. We are doing a repeat of last time, which means a 3-9 PM saturday session with a potluck dinner. We will give recommendations on what types of dishes, once we have a general head count. You can stay the whole six hours or come for just part of it. Kids are welcome, check with Paul first so the adults retain strength of numbers. If you are an out-of-towner overnight accomadations are possible on a limited basis, unless you don’t mind sleeping on floors. If you think you might be interested, please let me know!

Bump! It’s this weekend!
Another success, even though the tail end of the session degenerated into a discussion of th Muppet Show.
Thanks again for hosting, Paul!
Nick, Johnnie - I expect to hear from you two again! I’m always up for getting together and trading a few tunes.
A lot of fun! Thanks everyone for coming! Great food, too!
We’re going to try it again the last Saturday in October. I’ve already talked to a flute player today and, as we transition into the music program over at St.Mark’s, I understand there are a couple of musicians over there who are very interested in Celtic music. We’re starting to roll …
Thanks again to Brian for coming up here from Salt Lake! We enjoy your company very much (and your daughter is a sweetie–my boys really had a good time playing with her).
Paul, a preview of what I’ve been working on today:

Me on low Copeland D and Brian on … either an Oak or an improved Feadog, I suppose. I think it’s the Oak… When he gets home he can correct me.
Pictures??
I think it was the Oak Beth. ![]()
And yes, I’m home safely - THANK YOU GUYS SO MUCH!!!
I think I put close to 700 mi. on the old odometer, and worth every mile!
Slán go foil!!!
Bri~
You dork, you were supposed to call me!! lol
Glad you’re home safe!
This is Max. We’re not sure why he agrees to keep coming!

Hey, the clip was nice. I like that Copeland. I can tell you’re having fun with it, too. ![]()
(Max obviously likes to be set upon by the kids. I can tell they didn’t have very much fun
Incidentally, did he manage to roll out of the way before that tennis racket ended up where it looks like it was going?)
Well either he didn’t take the swing, or he just hit me hard enough that I don’t remeber it. smiles As for the reason I come to these, it is nice being around people as odd as I am.
-Max the laughing swordsman
Max, you are more than welcome! We enjoy having you over … and keep bringing those cakes ![]()
We’ll turn you into a bodhran player, yet!
Have a great week!
Paul.
Boise players:
I want to thank you all for the great time this weekend. As an obvious beginner, I still had lots of fun and I realized no session can be complete without tunes from the Muppets
Paul/Barb, you were fine hosts and Beth and Brian showed me what I can look forward to with much practice. Now all we need is to get Johnny to join in with Max on the Notebook…uh I mean Bodhran. I can’t wait for the next session. Later
Nick
Hey Max! Welcome!
Nick - we definitely have to get together again and not just for the monthly session. If you have any tunes you want to practice I’d be happy to help out.
Paul - Joe wasn’t actually heading for Max - he was just wandering through, but the implied intent was just too funny to pass up.
Hey, cool–a piano in a session! Who’s playing it?
My wife, Barb, played a few tunes when we moved inside. It was fun.
Beth, would you mind if I post that picture on my next website update? It was too funny–we got a big laugh out of it ![]()
Sure, use whatever you like.
Is it a sign of a good session if you are sore afterward? (best not ask Max…) I think I pulled my shoulder. Either too much low whistling in the cold, or too much spinning around small and not-so-small children, hehehe.
Hmm. I will have to do some more whistling this evening. Stretching, you see. It’s medicinal whistling.. Wonder if that excuse will fly with my housemates this winter…
Paul I am working on more clips of this session, will have a cd for you/others in a couple weeks. Let me know when you want to go to that movie, too. ![]()
I’ll look forward to the CD. Are there particular days that are better for you to take in the movie with us? The kids would probably be good at the earliest matinee on Saturday. Let me know.
What movie are you guys going to see? Just curious. ![]()
