bagpipe twist

Just found this one on Google Video and wanted to share:

Nice beat IMO.

That’s sort of goofy…

That was four different reels. Where did they find a GHP piper with so large a repertoire?! :boggle:

Darn. Sometimes I can’t get those Quicktime movies. Finally one comes along that sounds funny, and yep, it’s one I can’t get. Oh well, I’ll live. I also need to do the dishes.

Bagpipes and a djembe … definitely my neck of the woods.

I wish some of our lot could dance anywhere near as good as that bloke…

Let’s rephrase that.

I wish some of our lot could dance…

I wish some of our lot could…

I wish some of our lot…

THE HORROR! THE HORROR!

WHISKEY! Ahhhhhhhhh that’s better!

I have to say, that’s one of the best trad/modern fusions I’ve heard. The drummers seemed to actually have some lilt and feel for the melodies. Most ā€œcelt-rockā€ I hear doesn’t work as well for me, maybe ScotsFunk is a more natural fit?

Hi Gabriel

Nice video.

If you like that sort of things(I do) there are some audio clips here

that might interest you .

Looked and sounded more like a dumbek to me…

bagpipe twist

Ouch!

Can’t have been a dumbek - it didn’t sound like a Kalishnakov.

Up the voltage a bit, add some funky bass, and it might sound like Bad Haggis.

I was looking for the link to that addicting ā€œBash The Haggisā€ game and found this thread.

Sorry to disappoint you, Bloomfield, but there were only 3 reels there: The Congress Reel, Kelsey’s Wee Reel, and Sleepy Maggie. Still, not bad for a Highland piper. Oddly, there are many of us who know more than a few jigs and reels.

Reminds me of some of Ashley MacIsaac’s stuff

That’s just so wrong… :sniffle:

I’ve seen odder. There’s a pipe band in NJ called MAG 7–it’s part of the Bergan County Firefighters Pipes and Drums. They do that kind of thing only more over the top. They play a rendition of ā€œI wanna be sedatedā€ and it’s so screwed up, it’s funny. The first time I saw them perform, one of their heavier pipers was stepdancing to it. Last nov. I saw them perform at a tatoo and they were in full haloween regalia–I’ve never seen anything quite like it. They have a classic trad repitoir they play as well and they’re actually pretty good, so far as I can to. And they’re pretty successful at exciting the audience, at least at the three tatoos I saw them perform at, they received a standing ovation.
