Anyone know what whisle Bridget Regan plays? She is the fiddle/whistle player in the band Flogging Molly. If you haven’t heard of them, I’d check them out–entertaining stuff. Check out ‘Devil’s Dance Floor’ for some good whistle action. ![]()

Black head, shiny nickel body, it looks a lot like an Oak to me.
There’s also a slight catch of light on the bottom of the fipple that suggets a curved surface. Oak heads have a curve on the bottom of the head, and the fipple is shiny, unlike a Feadog. The Feadog body is also duller than an Oak.
Of the two most likely suspects then, Oak or Nickel Feadog, I’d favour the Oak.
Pass me my fiddle, Watson.

That’s no way to talk about a lady.
At least I didn’t call her a 'dog. Actually she might rival the stick-like AC as our new pin-up, as she at least has some meat on her bones.
You’re testing my fidelity to the waifish one.
More photographic evidence required.

not sure about the glowing red eyes, but I like the curve of her eyebrow…

Bridget is the one on the right.
You’ll have to try harder than that.
And anyway, what’s that peculiar yoke under her chin in the second photo?

Gotta love that smile!
No contest. Even Sharon Corr (admits to secret preference among siblings)

isn’t all that hard on the eye when she takes the yoke out from under her chin.
Oak, huh?
Cool.

Maybe I’m in left field on this, but the cramped closeness of the fair lady’s fingers suggests the whistle may possibly be an Eb or E, if Oak markets (I don’t know about “makes” versus “markets”) whistles in those bell keys.
No, I think you’re right. When I saw the pic, my first thought was 'eithr that lady’s got awful big hands or that isn’t a D whistle.
She could have had the tube or the entire whistle made specially for her, so we wouldn’t know what it was.
I’ve listened to a couple of their albums and wasn’t impressed by the whistle/piping exhibited there. I guess if you’re into punk (which I have been known to be at times) then it’s novel, but I was less than inspired all in all.
Oh Well.
Well, its not the best whistling/piping when compared against real irish musicians (no insult to the pirates intended) but its always been an inspiration to me (I mostly play irish tinted rock) showing that it can be done!
But besides that, most of FM’s songs are in keys most easily on a D whistle, so unless shes wanting to do some serious fingerwork, shes probably using a D. Its probably the camera angle
