My in-laws got me a mp3 player for Christmas and being a near total web tech noob I was wondering if anyone can recommend any free mp3 download sites. I’ve got very wide ranging musical tastes so anything is fair game.

Are you talking about free sites? Pay sites? Things have changed since napster and kazaa. I’m sure there are still ways to get commercial songs “free”, but that probably is best discussed elsewhere…
All of the file trading networks and such are under attack right now,although there are still millions of songs out there, and someone will come up with another loophole legality and another piece of software to take advantage of it.

What I mean are sites similar to the one I listed. Independent artists who are willing to share their creations. The one I listed is interesting since Aaron is willing to barter for CD copies of his material. He has some fantastic selections on his site. The “Anapurna” track is one of my favorites.

ACIDplanet is a good one… mostly techno and the like, but there are several artists like myself who offer more traditional selections.
