any Gmail negatives?

just wondering, I am considering opening an account, seems like I read something about privacy issues. I was told that it works best with single sideband w/pactor modems to PC communications, better than Yahoo anyway.

Most of what you said is greek to me, but I like Gmail better than Yanoo and Hotmail.

I’ve used Gmail since July 2004 and I am very happy with it. I get a rather large volume of email and there are organizational challenges because of the range of topics. The filtering and folder system works well. The “conversation” approach to organizing messages is unique and takes awhile to get used to, but once you get it you immediately see the merits of it. The greatest strength of Gmail, in my opinion, is the lightning fast search. Just like Google returns search information incredibly fast, so does Gmail.

I don’t think there’s any question that security is the weak link. It’s possible now to use https://www.gmail.com which I guess provides more security. To my knowledge, I’ve never had any security problems related to my use of Gmail.

Gmail rocks.

“Nuff said.”

thanks, I’ll get ZEE Gmail

What are you using a Pactor modem for? Are you going to be out on
the ocean? Man, I haven’t thought about packet radio since college…

Yeah, I could see Yahoo Mail (especially with their newer interface)
eating that bandwidth for lunch.

I have friends that are 900 miles out of the Galapagos Islands on their way in a sailboat to New Zeland and we email almost daily.
Its really nice to have that communication, when they are in port we also use Skype a lot, when they can find an internet cafe.

A Gmail negative.
