Does anyone know what kind of Tin Whistle Andrea Corr is playing in the concert “Live from Dublin”. I also want to know what key it is in and where I can purchase one.
Thank you,
Duane

Here we go on an Andrea Corr thread once again!
I’ll take the bait and go first, everybody else get in line behind me! ![]()

If Dale or Rich makes a FAQ of common board topics, this should definitely be in it!

Actually, I think this line of questioning shows a lot about (most of) the members of the board! We could be reading Does anyone know what Andrea Corr was wearing when…. Many of us have noticed that she is playing a whistle!
Whistle? Andrea Corr plays the whistle?
she plays a tin whistle
[she said that]… I’m here only because of curiosity… have already flageot!.. and it’s all because of Corrs music

Wasn’t there an article or something someone here found that said she plays various cheap whistles, always a different one, because she’s always losing them? That sounds vaguely familiar to me.
Personally, I’m not all that impressed with her playing, though.
Hey guys, remember no matter how many times this question gets asked and answered that scrawny, yet cute*, chick does bring in a lot of new players. She should be our ambassador of whistling.

I’m not sure the end justifies the means… I must say I am a little bit sick of people saying how much they love “Toss the Feathers.” It just… isn’t good traditional Irish music. But whatever. I don’t really mind that much. It can be annoying at times, that’s all.
Hi Everyone,
Actually, this time Andrea played a nickle Generation whistle (blue head). And yes, she does plays Walton’s whistles mostly (Little Black D and Mellow D).
She’s playing Walton’s exclusively, she throws them into the audience after concerts but she also forgets, looses and misplaces them a lot. So it sometimes happens that at the last moment she doesn’t have a whistle at hand. The Generation was borrowed for rehearsal, she liked it and so decided to play it during recording. (Live in Dublin)
And no, I’m not posting a picture of her playing this whistle during the show.
Generation whistles are the most available whistles in the world, I guess. It’s hard to find a really good one, though.
Hope this answers your question.
Bye,
Ilana
This all sure sounds like Joan Rivers talking about what everyone wore at the Grammy’s. “Oh, look at her, sliding out of her limo with the dull, black whistle, or is a silver one with a blue head?..”
For those who have missed it, or those who miss it; here’s a link to the previous ‘Andrea Corr’s Tinwhistle’ thread.
Some nice pictures ![]()
Who’s Andrea Corr? Can’t someone post a photo of her?

Yep, but we didn’t have to notice that she was wearing an LBD (Little Black Dress). Long may she continue, and keep the photos coming, you guys!
Well, I like ‘Joy Of LIfe’… and if you want some pictures here you are ![]()

Excuse me for not noticing the obvious, but shouldn’t the wood of the violin bow be angled towards the scroll? JP

The great fiddler at the Porterhouse session last Sunday was doing the exact opposite, angling the bow towards the bridge, but not being a fiddler I didn’t understand why. Is this supposed to give a different tone, better grip on the strings, or what? Seems to me to be a good way to ensure uneven bow wear.
This is pretty normal bowing for the E string as it allows for a comfortable and relaxed wrist position as well as keeping the bow hair away from the thumb. If she were bowing the G string the picture would be altogether different.Traditional bowing is a complex practice with as many styles as there are tunes.Peace, Mike ![]()
