Abell Delrin D on eBay

I have had two of these - both are terrific - one I traded for a great Copeland C and the other which is part of a D/C set, I still have.

There is, I believe, an unintentional misstatement in the description - “Perhaps the perfect low whistle,…” Obviously, it is not a “low” whistle, but rather a soprano D or high whistle.

It’s up to 150 pounds now. That’s got to be the heaviest whistle on record.

Thats almost the new price of an Abell, Delrin or Blackwood.

It amazes me how high many things will sell for on Ebay now. It often appears that people don’t check out what an item sells for new before they get caught up in the ‘frenzy’ of bidding. I have been bidding on Ebay almost since they first began and I have seen so many used items go for well over new price. It seems to be more about the competition of bidding than about getting a good or even fair deal.

That’s true with in-person auctions also…once some poeple becomes emotionally attached to winning an item, it’s no longer about the item or its value, but about winning. I used to go with my boss to computer hardware auctions, and was amazed that people would pay more than retail for used computer equipment (which generally has a 3-5 year shelf life)

Although your statement is not inaccurate, I’m sure that in the world of High-End Whistles, the waiting period (or lack of wait I should say) factors some into what a person would pay to have one on their doorstep next week.
