Brass D and Silver Low D Copeland Whistles on eBay

Hi - in case you’re interested, I’m auctioning two terrific Copeland whistles on eBay:

A silver Low D:

and a brass High D:

I even shined them up a little!

John

The Copeland silver low D is one of the very few whistles that’s still capable of reviving my WhOA. What a nice addition that would make.

I’m curious how much money the Copelands will fetch on ebay, given the state of everything:

On the one hand, the scarcity of available Copelands will probably continue to drive the prices up.

On the other hand, the world economy being in a downward spiral, lots of people will think twice before splurging over $1000 on a luxury whistle. Who knows, in few months I might find myself laid off.

On the other other hand, regardless of how many millions of people have lost their jobs, all it takes to drive up the price is two ebay users with a bidding war.

On the other other other hand, if I do get laid off I could sell a Copeland if I had to; but then again, if the economy worsens, then cheaper ones will probably become available; but then again, if the economy gets REALLY bad, these dollars of mine could become worthless, in which case I’d be better off spending them now, on some durable goods.

A silver Copeland counts as durable goods, doesn’t it?

oh, yeah!

eenie meenie minie bid!

Yeah, me too! A couple of Copeland Low D brass have sold for nearly $1,000 in the past month or so on eBay. If it doesn’t sell, it won’t bother me. It’s a great session instrument because of the volume and a great recording whistle because of the tone.

And solid silver, too!

For the Low D, why is there a reserve and reserve amount specified in the description? Why not simply put a minimum bid of 1000$ then and save the money a reserve will cost? A reserver is good if not specified so that people will bid hoping to beat it, in my understanding anyway.

And miss all of the excitement watching the bids come in?

No, seriously, that’s a good point and if I was a savvy seller I would have known that.

Thanks, John
