A Smoke Angel from Airplane Flares

Far out!

Vortice this that stands before me? :boggle:

So a believing christian would interpret that as an angel?

Well, you see what you want to see I guess. :stuck_out_tongue:

Looks like a Portuguese man o’ war to me

I think it’s a pair of fetal squid angels holding hands.
But I love it. It’s gorgeous.

Not to put a damper on things, but I wonder if its a counter measure against SAMs with an IR seeker?

It looks like two ghosts with long hair facing each other to me.
Or two brides facing each other (must be Canadian since that’s not legal here).

BTW Henke, angels are not unique to Christianity. In fact, belief in angels predates Christianity by many-a-thousand of years. The history of the human perspective of angels is fascinating.

Yup.

Bears an uncanny resemblance to this fellow:

Gollum with hair! :astonished:

Well, I guess that depends on how you define angels.

Might be. Either there’s a practical reason or they were just bored.

yeah…actually the concept of angels was probably pretty much assimilated into christian thought much in the way evergreen trees and easter eggs were assimilated into christian holidays.

Plenty of angels in the Old Testament…

Got a date with an angel,
Got to meet her at seven;
Got a date with an angel,
And I’m on my way to Heaven.

She’s so lovely beside me,
And whatever betide me,
Got an angel to guide me,
So I’m on my way to Heaven.

Soon, I’ll hear the bells ring out,
And the chorus will sing out,
When the pearly gates swing out,
She’ll beckon to me.

I’ve been waiting a lifetime
For this evening at seven;
Got a date with an angel,
And I’m on my way to Heaven.

Yeah, you’re right about that. I guess I mean that the specific imagery of angels as often associated with contemporary christianity isn’t the final word on angels in the history of human thought. Obviously. Which is basically what Fly and JES said.

Angels exist in Jewish belief and (here I don’t mean to be stating what others already have) Judaism predates Christianity.

But further, angels exist in Zoroastrianism, which is the oldest revealed religion in the world and one of the oldest religions period. It predates Judaism, Christianity, and Islam, and perhaps even Hinduism.

Oh boy! Dopey “angel” lyrics. My specialty!

Send Me An Angel - by Thrice

{chorus}
Send me an angel
Send me an angel
Right now
Right now

Send me an angel
Send me an angel
Right now
Right now

Do you believe in heaven above
Do you believe in love
Don’t tell a lie
Don’t be false or untrue
It all comes back to you

Open fire, on my burning heart
I’ve never been lucky in love
My defenses are down
A kiss or a frown
I can’t survive on my own

If a girl walks in
And carves her name in my heart
I’ll turn and run away

Everyday, we’ve all been led astray
It’s hard to be lucky in love

It gets in your eyes
Its making you cry
Don’t know what to do
Don’t know what to do
Looking for love
Calling heaven above

Send me an angel
Send me an angel
Right now
Right now

Send me an angel
Send me an angel
Right now
Right now

Empty dreams can only disappoint
In a room behind your smile
But don’t give up, don’t give up
You can be lucky in love

It gets in your eyes
Its making you cry
Don’t know what to do
Don’t know what to do
Looking for love
Calling heaven above

Send me an angel
Send me an angel
Right now
Right now

Send me an angel
Send me an angel
Right now
Right now

{interlude}

Send me an angel
Send me an angel
Right now
Right now

{interlude}

Send me an angel
Send me an angel
Right now
Right now

Send me an angel
Send me an angel
Right now
Right now

Teen Angel - by Mark Dinning

(Jean Surrey & Red Surrey)

Teen angel, teen angel, teen angel, ooh, ooh

That fateful night the car was stalled
upon the railroad track
I pulled you out and we were safe
but you went running back

Teen angel, can you hear me
Teen angel, can you see me
Are you somewhere up above
And I am still your own true love

What was it you were looking for
that took your life that night
They said they found my high school ring
clutched in your fingers tight

Teen angel, can you hear me
Teen angel, can you see me
Are you somewhere up above
And I am still your own true love

Just sweet sixteen, and now you’re gone
They’ve taken you away.
I’ll never kiss your lips again
They buried you today

Teen angel, can you hear me
Teen angel, can you see me
Are you somewhere up above
And I am still your own true love
Teen angel, teen angel, answer me, please

 djm
