Visual art, loosely defined, by yours truly. This is the second in a series. My middle daughter owns the only known print of the first item from this series, “Giant Sky Carp over Unknown City.”

Wow! I like it! Very icy!
You’re delightfully odd, Dale. I love it.
I’ve had dreams like this… ![]()
More carp nightmares. I found this not-very-high-resolution image of the first in the Giant Carp series.

Yikes!!! Dream-ja-vous!!!
(…reaches for the over-sized bottle of Zoloft).
Can’t quite be sung to the tune of “Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds”, just imagine if John Lennon had been shown this picture instead.
How about ‘Guppy in the Sky with Diamonds?’
Mukade
Nice. I’d hang it on MY wall. ![]()
Wierdly Beautiful. In a Poststructural way of course. ![]()
Is anyone familiar with the cartoonist Guindon? He was into carp, in fact one of his collections was entitled, “The world according to Carp.” On the cover of said volume was a cartoon with a giant carp in the sky. Two people were looking up at it, with one saying to the other, “That’s not the Goodrich Carp, Goodrich doesn’t have a carp.”
(For you who aren’t Americans and/or not of advanced years, there was an advertising campaign in the '70’s in which BF Goodrich was taking advantage of the occasional confusion between their name and Goodyear. One person would claim to see the Goodrich Blimp, and another would say, “That’s not the Goodrich Blimp, Goodrich doesn’t have a blimp.”)
Yes, what a wonderful sense of humor Guindon has. One of my favorite cartoons of his was a scene of a tree in the foreground, with a pear-shaped checkered-plaid bird sitting in the branches, while in the background two hunters were walking toward the tree. The caption read:
“… another reason why Polyester went extinct”. ![]()
Truly bizzare!
Salvador Dali would be proud! ![]()
Call him Dadale Wisely. ![]()
For some reason, now I have the song “Ghost Riders In the Sky” in my head…
And now, so do I… it replaced ‘It’s A Small World’. I am so very grateful, thanks a million! ![]()
No, no. It’s “Carp Riders in the Sky” ![]()
Actually, the song is about skydiving, no-name authors: “Ghost Writers In the Sky”.
Boastful Bridles in my Pie.

Ghost Chickens in the Sky
A chicken farmer went walking out one dark and fateful day
He rested by the coop as he went on along his way
When all at once a rotten egg hit him in the eye
It was the sight he dreaded
Ghost chickens in the sky!
Bok bok bok BOK
Bok bok BOK
The ghost chickens in the sky
The farmer had raised chickens since he was 24
A-working for the Colonel for thirty years or more
Killing all those chickens and sending them to fry
Now they want revenge…
Ghost chickens in the sky.
Bok…
Their feet were black and shiny, their eyes were burning red
They had no meat or feathers, these chickens all were dead
They carried off the farmer and he died by the claw
They cooked him extra crispy
And ate him with cole slaw
Bok…
