A search for a perfect whistle? (I think I found it!!)

The more I play my elfsong the more I love it and the less I miss my sweet-tone. The sweet-tone is a great starter whistle but as soon as you can scrape the money together I would order an Elfsong from Sandy. The tone is beautiful, the customer service is great, the whistle itself is gorgeous, and once you get the hang of warming it up before you play clogging is negligible (spelling ). Its a very easy transition from a sweet-tone to my elfsong and I’m likeing it more and more every time I pick it up…GREAT WHISTLE!!.

Half-holing the Cnat is scratchy and not quite right? I’ve found half-holing to give a solid note, much more than cross-fingering on the Sweetone. I think practice will help you nail it.

The real question then becomes whether you prefer the feel of half-holing or cross-fingering. Some makers clearly favour one of those methods. Once you know which method you prefer, others will be able to make decent recommendations.

I too made the switch from (primarily) a Sweetone to my Elfsongs, and am very happy with them as well! They’re balanced in both octaves, easy to play, I can get nice long phrases.. and to top it off they’re beautiful. Thanks again Sandy, and I’d reccommend these whistles to everyone too!

When I ordered my Elfsongs, Sandy said that the current wait was approximately six weeks. (Seems like an eternity.) It’s now been six weeks plus four days since I placed my order. I’m like a little kid waiting for Christmas to arrive. Each day for the last two weeks I’ve wondered if that would be the day I got the email from Sandy saying that the whistles are on their way.

I feel like I’m going into withdrawal and I haven’t even had my first “fix” yet.
