Hello Pipers & Fiddlers: After the success of last year’s tionol in the
Catskills, we’ve decided to hold it again at the Fern Cliff House in
East Durham, NY. We’re holding the 2005 tionól a month earlier this
year. Hopefully, the weather will be a bit warmer, and a few more folks
might still be around the area to appreciate the mainstream cultural
experience we’ll bring…
Here’s the important stuff:
Date: Friday, Sept. 30th-Monday Oct 3 (check in begins at 5pm Friday)
Dinner will be served to those who arrive by 7; sandwiches for those
who come in later.
Guests include
Clare piper Maíre Ní Ghrada, Waterford piper Jimmy O’Brien Moran,
Limerick piper Mickey Dunne, Tipperary piper Michael Cooney, Toronto
piper Debbie Quigley, US pipers Patrick Hutchinson and Benedict
Koelher. In addition, we’ll have Patrick Ourceau and Willie Kelly
teaching fiddle workshops. We can accomodate only 20 fiddle students
(intermediate and advanced) so tell your fiddle friends to register
soon at our website (eastcoastpipers.com).
As you can see, we have a exciting line up of pipers representing very
different styles. We’ll have the usual meet-and-greet Friday night, a
concert Saturday night, and on Sunday night, you’ll have an opportunity
to show off your skills—or just to practice playing in front of an
audience—during our Pipers’ Chair concert. You are welcome to invite
another player onstage with you for this performance, but please, no
bands.
Don’t miss out on what promises to be another outstanding piping
tionól. This is an opportunity to spend time with a group of other
people who are just as mad as you are. And once again, we’re inviting
fiddlers to help dilute the reed density. What could be better?
