Your Favorite Lunasa Album

Edit: My apologies for not receiving enough training in creating polls.

If you would like to vote for the album REDWOOD, I’m afraid you will have to cast your vote as a write in.

The other night I attended a Lunasa concert for the first time and absolutely loved it.

I picked up all four of their albums and listened to them on a looooong trip to New Jersey.

I enjoyed all four albums, but I particularly liked the third album best. The TUNES  were each very distinctive. Maybe I haven’t been around long enough, but after listening to ITM, sometimes they all start sounding the same.

The tune Aibreann is incredible!

So which albums is your favorite?

How come “Redwood” isn’t on the list??

Strange…it was on there when I hit submit.

Not sure how to edit, but I’ll give it a shot.

Okay, I’m at a loss on how to edit the poll.

Can someone tell me how to do it or how to kill the poll?

You have to hit “add option” for the last item in the poll, too, leaving one more option than you want that is blank. Editing polls sucks.

Lunasa have songs on their albums now? All I heard were tunes! Who is the singer?

Sorry, my pet peeve!

Hey! That is my pet peeve. Get your grubby paws off my pet peeve at once, you glabruous tenterhook!

I got it now, but how do I edit, and if I can’t, how do I kill this poll so I can do it again correctly?

My apologies Mr PotatoHead.

There is an edit button in the upper right hand corner of your first post on this thread. In my experience what will happen is that you have to enter all the choices again, and then they show up double. You can’t kill this thread since folks other than you have posted in it. Just start over if you really feel the need to.

Oh, and they’re tunes, not songs. (sorry, MY pet peeve.)

No fair Bloomers. I have a pet peeve because I can’t keep a dog. Peeves are cleaner and quieter than dogs, don’t require walkies, and never lick themselves in intimate places in mixed company. Well, hardly ever.

One of MY pet peeves: The word “walkies.” It always reminds me of that gawd-awful woman in the 70s or whenever it was…Barbara something-or-other who was supposed to be a whiz with the hounds and had a tv show teaching us all how to make the little buggers behave.

But to keep this on topic: Like every other group, I think there are hits and misses on each Lunasa album - and they’re only hits and misses because of my own personal preference. One of these days, I’ll burn all my favorites onto a “Best of Lunasa” CD and THAT will be my favorite.

Holy crap, I edited it once and now it’s not even a poll anymore.

I give up.

i enjoy lunasa UNTIL that bass guitar comes in. just totally blows the mood for me.

Woodhouse. She was something else. Scared the poop right out of those puppies.

Goll, yes I hate it too, I’m so ashamed such a word should have come out of my computer. I’m now going to pour a cup of tea over the monitor as a punishment.

Before I do, Whistlin’, it took me ages to realise Slowair’s wings were part of his hat - I thought he actually had horns growing out of his head!

fizzzzz crackle

Ah…well do I remember Barbara Woodhouse! I always figured the reason the dogs did so well for her was they were hoping “maybe if I do what this person says she’ll shut the heck up!” Woman had a voice that would bend metal!

I’ve been thinking of getting a Lunasa CD…I could use some new music. They’re a fairly trad group, yes? Good whistling? Any recommendations on a good one to start out with?

My recommendation would be the third album titled Lunasa.

I am truly honored to be placed in such company.
BUT. that really is a picture of me in my avatar. Can Martin and Bloom make the same claim? Would they want too? Why, oh why did I?

Do they really use that phrase in GB? I like it. Reminds me of Wallace and Grommit.

Yes, sorry about that. When I made the pic smaller it lost it’s wonderful detail. I’d be willing to send a full size version upon request.

That picture was done as a greeting card that I made for my girlfriend. The accompanying words were. “You’re so sweet, you rot my teeth and now I floss with clothesline.”

Fairly.

Lúnasa are what I call trad-driven; high production polish, intermittent flügelhorns, symphonic backup and spacey electric guitar added to the mix aren’t so trad to date. But let’s wait another 70 years or so and see what transpires. ITM has been assimilating and abandoning instruments for centuries. After all, if we pare things down, the only identifiable historically traditional instrument played today is the bodhrán.

…OK, OK, and the whistle.

Their playing is topnotch in any case. Just not my cup of tea.

The self titled Lunasa album is my favorite. I love tracks 4, 9 and 10, 5 is great,too. Overall–there isn’t a tune I don’t like.
Luckily we got to see them for the second time a few weeks back, in Chicago–they are astounding! I am amazed at their impeccable timing. Great guys to talk too as well. I only wish I had enough money to get Redwood while we were there! I am curious to hear them play a song. How do you guys like it?
