Anyone into Lunasa? I’m really enjoying a couple of their albums currently. “Otherworld” and “The Merry Sisters of Fate”. Great music! ![]()
At the risk of being lynched by a horde of angry Joanie Madden or Mary Bergin fans, I have to say that ever since I got my first Lunasa CD, Kevin Crawford has become my new hero.
Not me. ![]()
What’s interesting is that on their first CD, they were more pipe oriented with less flute.
I saw Lunasa at a small venue in Cleveland a couple of years ago and it’s one my all time favorite concerts.
I seen Lunasa play in Belfast 2 weeks ago and they were fantastic, there was a spanish band on before them with an amazing flute player, but I cant remember their name. ![]()
We love those guys!

Great players AND great people.
HW–I’ve seen Lunasa twice, and I highly recommend their live performances, as well as their CDs. They are coming to Somerville, MA on 9/28/07, so come on down south.
Wanderer–I won’t lynch you. I’m also a fan.
I like them quite a lot. Never seen them live though. Hope to soon!
I liked Merry Sisters, so I bought Redwood. I only listened to it
twice. Seemed like just a reprise of Merry Sisters…
I saw them in Chicago at the Old Town School of Folk Music a couple months back. Dervish “opened” for them at the second concert. All I can say is “amazing”! In fact, both groups the same night, back-to-back in the same venue, was so worth the time. They will be at the Chicago Celtic Fest in September and I plan on going back specifically to see them.
BTW - I was at the Chicago Gaelic Park Irish Fest (my inlaws live there, and so I’m in the city A LOT!) this past weekend and saw Solas for the umpteenth time and was very, very happy. They played a lot of their “old” stuff - not too much of the contemporarish sort of tunes that have shown up on the last couple of disks. I was ssssoooo happy. If they stick w/the same format, they are definately worth seeing if you can get to them. ![]()
Yeah. Lunasa rocks. ![]()
Oh yeah!
I’ve seen them live once, have all their albums. They rock!

there’s a message board there too. ![]()
TUENDA supported Lunasa last 12th may at the Marquee. Tuenda is a Spanish band with a very simple but very creative formation combining voice, bouzuki, fiddle and flute that has become a reference of the Asturian Folk. The flute player is Pepin Menendez and true, he’s very talented.

And some clips with friends, some of them sadly gone.

And of course, we love Trad. and Lúnasa at the same time, isn’t it?

Not bad. Not a real favourite, but not bad at all. ![]()
They can’t possibly be any good since Donogh Hennessy left the band. He was HOT.
Susan
so here he is, one for the girls in the house (or boys, should they be so inclined
)

I liked Lunasa, then I saw http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FNI0Mun2qYo - Ok. I’m sold. ![]()
Yeah, that’s Island Paddy..one of my favorite tunes of theirs.
If you turn the volume all the way down, he looks like he’s playing in fast forward ![]()
