The dip between Rough Tor and Brown Willy is a lovely, quiet place where you can get away from all human-induced noise - a bit of a rarity even in Cornwall. Another great place I discovered only last week is Morte Point, near Woolacombe in Devon. I’d always be pleased to shake the hand of any C&F-er who happens to visit Cornwall (I live just off the A39) and even let them buy me a pint!
I kept looking out for a red Peugeot 206 with a load of black puddings on the back seat but I couldn’t spot you. We’ll make that a Doombar I owe you then shall we?
No wonder - it’s a 106, not a 206! I’m the oldest boy-racer in Bude. As a matter of fact I did cart some black pudding home in it last week but it was buried under loads of other shopping.
There is worse - take a laxative, then go to a friend’s house for tea and discover they have become a vegetarian and have cooked you a three-course fibre-fest meal. Then be leading the worship in church the next morning and feel serious tremors half way through the first chorus.
I don’t normaly get to stop in North Cornwall, were usualy on our way south and tend to keep moving while the kids are quiet. They are all in Norfolk at the moment so I though I’d walk up that hill I’ve driven past so many times.
More words of wisdom:
“A four month supply of wine will last twice as long as one month’s supply”
Not in my house, mate. If I lay in a four month supply of wine it’ll last one month. I’m best buying it when I need it and not laying it in. A large supply seems to engender too strong a feeling of security.
Words of wisdom from Shakespeare that neatly bring together allusions from other threads I’m in concerning men-breasts and veggies:
CAESAR: Let me have men about me that are fat;
Sleek-headed men and such as sleep o’ nights.
Yond Cassius has a lean and hungry look;
He thinks too much: such men are dangerous.
