Bougth one nice cd Dan Ar Braz “Celtiques”, (there’s no mention about players ), who migth be the Uilleann piper?
Most likely Patrick Molard.
Thanks. UP sound so" tigth" and solid , rythm and nature of tunes quite something near as like Whelan/ D.Lunny’s Coolfin… That Bagad Kemper is cool indeed.
Whatkinda set he’s playing (UP)?
Might also be Ronan Le Bars
I’d guess Patrick Molard too,
and if it is him, he playes a Froment set.
Tommy
I go for
Ronan Le Bars, cornemuse irlandaise
Considéré comme l’un des meilleurs joueurs de uilleann pipes, Ronan à joué sur scène ou participé à des enregistrements pour un grand nombres d’artistes dans la musique celtique, jazz et variétés. On peut citer : Pennou Skoulm, Soil Siberil, Jean-Michel Veillon, Christian Lemaitre, Jacky Molard, Glaz, Dan Ar Bras, Les Frères Boclé, Manu Lann Huel, Nicolas Quémener, Didier Squiban, Jacques Pellen, Stéphane Eicher, Claude Nougaro, Hugues de Courson, Youenn Le Berre & Alan Stivell.
Yes, but Patrick Molard recorded with Dan Ar Braz as well:

Since “Celtiques” is a compilation album, it’s quite possible that both of these pipers appear on various tracks.
Dan Ar Braz’s “Celtique” features tracks from “Theme For The Greenlands” on which Patrick Molard did the piping (GHB and UP).
I’m guessing the live tracks are from the “Heritage des Celtes” CDs which featured Ronan Browne on the UP as well as Ronan le Bars, Liam O’Flynn and John McSherry (depending on the CD). Perhaps that will clear it up
.
Yec’hed mat!
Aaron
I shall ask Patrick for it tomorrow… he is my U-P teacher! ![]()
(Patrick’s concert pitch chanter was made by Alain Froment and drones/regulators by Dave Williams… simply a wonderful instrument !)
and
What did he say?
carel
I spoke to Patrick in the afternoon and he said to me that it was not him !
sorry ![]()
It is quite possible that I am the piper on that Dan Ar Bras " Celtiques".
If you could just give me the titles of the tracks. I played on Dan Ar Bras’s albums from 1977 up until 1993 , until Ronan Le Bars (who got his first lessons on the pipes from me ) took over .
Incidentally , I now play on a Froment chanter with a Dave Wiliams set , but in the 70’s I had a MacFadden chanter with Robbie Hughes drones , so if you give me the titles and maybe the recording period , I can give you an answer to your question .
Patrick Molard
