I got a cd called Broken Pledge
with Christian Maes on accordeon, Cristophe Raillard on piano and Marc Pollier on Uilleann pipes.
Marc Pollier is a brilliant piper playing on a Dave Williams set.
there is a beautifull version of The bank of the Suir
a slow air which was recorded at the beginning of the 20th century by Liam Walsh
I remember Marco living in Birmingham, must have been late 80s early 90s. (It often all goes a bit hazy)
He would sometimes come up to Leeds usually with Kevin Crawford and the Molloy’s. Then a few of us would head down to Birmingham when a weekend of sessions were in the offing.
He was and I assume is still a great player. I learnt plenty from listening to him and he was always helpful and friendly with us beginners.
As for pipes tutors, the more the merrier, natural selection will see them get better but only if new ones come along.
Marco is now living in France near Angers.
He 's always a friendly man, good teacher, and very good piper (terrific reg’s playing). He has been the guest teacher last January in Paris for our annual “Brook’s Academy”.
Here is a photo of Marco at the last tionol from Gan Ainm ( brittany pipers association ) . It was in Lorient on the last 19 of March . ( sorry for the micro ! )
