First of all, has anyone heard these guys before? I bought damn near their full CD off iTunes, and ever since I’ve pretty much been addicted to their music. A few of their songs stand out in particular: Flat River Girl (excellent Piping accompaning the vocals in the last verse), Crosses of Annagh (Crazy solo at the start), Flower of Magherally, and also, the inspiration for this thread, Coleraine Regatta. In the middle of that track they fly into a reel from vocals, and the Marco Pollier, their Uilleann Piper, sounds absolutely pissed off. It is quite possibly the most angry, aggressive sample of Uilleann Piping I have ever heard, more so that anything I have heard of McSherry.
Does anyone know where I can find any solo CDs Mr. Pollier may have, and even better, if they are worth a full out no-preview-needed purchase?
Already tried. I done searched for “Ebony and Brass”, “Marco Pollier”, “Marco”, “Pollier”, and “Polier”, but sadly to no avail. They don’t have him in the new releases either. Damn guy is hard to find.
I have a cd by Marco (can’t remember the name though), it’s a good one. I’ve tried to find it on the French web, no results. Maybe you could try and contact Marc Pollier himself. He’s a nice guy.
