Has this been asked before ?, probably but I couldn,t find it so if you don,t mind we,ll go again
I play an old ginberg pratise set but soon to have a Mark Donohoe half set
RORY
PS It would be interesting to hear from pipers who have been playing for a long time, and have played the same set for a long time .
Had my pipes nigh on 14 years, only really been playing them nigh on 6 or 7 years if averaged out. Started with an Adrian Jeffries Chanter and Eugene Lambe drones, still playing them.
The Thomas set was my first set and isn’t played on a regular basis. The Childress set is my primary instrument. I’ve come to prefer the Childress drones over the Thomas drones, but I was never dissatisfied with the Thomas drones. Childress chanter reeds have been much more robust and allowed me to play more and fettle less.
1 full set in D.
Chanter by Johnny Bourke.
Regulators by Kevin Thompson.
Drones by Leo Rowsome, Kevin Thompson and Davis Biosvert!
Also Leo Rowsome D chanter, David Daye penny chanter and a C chanter by Ian MacKenzie.
and 2 fiddles, a mandolin, a viola, a Croger flute (c.1840) whistle scattered everywhere and last week I landed in with a Hohner Verdi piano accordion ($40, you can’t go wrong) but herself nearly went ape!
I know shes right, you can’t get into the apartment for instruments.
A Charles Roberts practice set with chanter in african blackwood for right now. Soon to be a Boisvert lemonwood full set. I can’t wait, but I’ll jut have to won’t I. Oh Fr. Pat, I’ve been having impure thoughts.
Marc Van Daal fullset d-concert
B-set 3/4 set own making and “design”. Not the most nice set to look at. but also ugly birds can sing fairly nice.
Cis-chanter measurements from a Coyne from Phil Wardle.
Spillane d-chanter.
I am planning to make 3/4-set in pitch of Cis. If anyone have some measurements of drones and regulators.
