I can vouch for Andy Faden’s reeds, I have one in my chanter and it’s top notch, great sound and well made. What’s more, he’s a jolly decent chap too, living round the corner from John Bunyan’s church. 
In fact, it was Cillian who put me in touch with Andy. 
You won’t play on anything finer than a Hunter Concert D stick,
lovely bit of ‘Kit’ that big bottom D will blow your ears off!. 
I do play a Hunter half set and the sound is a big one indeed. Only good things to be said about it!

Peter Hunter has to be, the finest Uilleann Pipe maker this Century by far, without any doubt,
two chanters on the Drones and the Chanter vol.2
can’t be bad for any master pipemaker.

When I hit the Hunter bottom D’sss, it reminds me of shouting some of my enemie’s 
, its like a machine ‘Gun’, of course you have to have the right calibre of reed, the list is getting shorter though 
, then I usually have a ‘nap’ in the lovely evening English ‘air’. 
Chanter is the engine for a set and a great one is worth its weight in gold. A quality chanter, like this one, does not get offered on its own in an open market too often.
I used to say many years ago that a nice set (in resale) was never offered to half a dozen people, on account of one of the first five would snap it up or direct the deal to someone on the hunt for a nice set with cash. The eBAY model changes that a bit!

Can confirm that Peter Hunter sets are easy to reed and sound well.
Had Stefan and his set in the workshop last week during the heatwave - Stefan, I hope your new reeds have survived the transition to a more northerly climate

Peter doesn’t appear to be doing much pipemaking at the moment but he does endorse younger makers who’ve been apprenticed to him and who are probably cheaper - £500-600?
John is right. Once again E-bay has generated some totally insane valuations. The reserve value looked about right, but for £800, you’d expect something more than a plain chanter with one key. Less than two years ago I bought the chanter pictured here for less than the current bid…

I’m not sure I understand. You bought a fullset for less than STG800? Or ar you referring to the fully-keyed chanter?
