Loc: Sulysap, Hungary Hi chanterdan,
Who is the maker of these bellows?
http://mysite.verizon.net/littlems1/bellows/
They look awesome. I’d like to buy one if possible.
Thanks,
Miki
Those bellows have to be the work of…Jim, who luckily is on this forum. I’d love to see them in person!!!
Yes, those are Jim’s. The Brazilian cherry is mine. The other belongs to a C&Fer too.
Lovely stuff Brazilian Cherry. I saw a another photo for one that looked like figured maple, like the type that used on violin backs. (drool!!)
Jim’s workmanship looks very crisp and solid. Inspires me to keep hacking away at making my own!
wow…is that blow pipe stock style typical or an inovation?
It is an older style that can be commonly seen on bellows made for French pipes.
And border/lowland pipes. The bellows that Julian Goodacre makes for his border pipes (based on a set that surfaced in Peebles, Scotland) has this same “stock.”
I’ve seen an antique UP bellows with something similar too. What was weird about that one, the bottom stock bit and the bellows cheek were clearly carved out of a single piece! Lots of work.
Chanterdan: I’ve been in contact with the individual interested in my bellows. Thank you.
To all:Thanks for the positive comments about my work.
I make the air outlet out of african blackwood in lieu of metal because I like working with wood more than I do metal. I personally don’t see any advantage to one over the other.
The latest ones I have made are slightly different based on feedback from people who have used these bellows. The inlet valve is a lower profile and is moved closer to the hinge.
Regards,
Jim
Jim,
i have to chime in here because I happened upon Jims’ Bellows as part of the Williams set I purchased from David Power…These are quite comfy and durable, and they look great too!!!
I should probably get a second set while the price is low?? or am I too late?
Phil,
If I recall I made those for David a few years back. They didn’t have pads and there was less internal volume than the ones I currently make.
The price has skyrocketed up to $275 for the padded bellows and connecting tube.
If you are interested send me a PM or give me a call if you still have my number..
Happy Fathers Day!
Jim

Sky rocketed? IMHO, $275 for a set of bellows, such as the maserfully made ones by yourself, is one of the best (if not the best!) deals out there. Luverly stuff Jim! ![]()
