Hi Everyone, I was wondering about possibly purchasing a bellows off Jim at some stage in the near future. After searching the forums I have only heared good things about his high-standard of work and the price is certainly attractive. The pictures certainly seem to back up the arguments for purchasing his bellows. If anyone has purchased a set of bellows that are made by Jim please contact me via PM (or here in this thread).
How does one buy bellows from Jim? because I have seen pictures of his work, was impressed, and I am in the market for my first bellows. I have been borrowing one, and am ready for my own. Thanks.
I have a set of bellows by Jim. Not only are the bellows great but working with him was great too. Jim takes custom work to heart. Countless emails, pics, and exchange of parts happened to make my bellows. Here’s the link to my post on the Pics thread.
PM him. His internet access is somewhat limted to business hours so it may take a few days to get a reply.
Did I mention that he loaned me a bellows while he was making mine?
I have a bellows made by Jim. Fine work and he was kind enough to give me some say over its construction in terms of materials and more importantly, I asked if he would build the leather pad (both sides) into the bellows, which he did (for the first time), and I am very pleased with it. His prices are very very reasonable as well.
Per the photos, it looks like Jim has perhaps adopted the permanently attached leather padding following my request on my bellows. I think that it is a big improvement on ones that slide around, and it looks better, however, replacement will be more difficult after a lengthy period I suppose. A worthwhile trade off in my opinion.
