Well, I need to improve my photo skills. The brass is reflecting the green felt they are laying on.

you ready to sell one yet?
They are out on tour till December. Perhaps for sale in the spring 2007.
I am waiting for feedback on the tone and the wood before I make tunables.
Dang, my man! Those look really excellent. Keep up the good work.
He must have had these locked up when I visited him on Friday! ![]()
Nope. I got 'em. And the pic doesn’t come close to doing them justice. I may just keep them all.
Sorry about the tour, guys.

I finished the olive wood today. But again I need to take better pictures.
The olive wood is darker than the bright light makes it look. And the green felt is reflecting in the shine of the wood.
Exellent! (and the pictures are nice too!). You are using brass in the mouth piece. From my own experience I find brass very unpleasent to touch or to have in ones mouth. Have you tried silver or just plain wood? Silver is more inert and looks very classy!
Keep up the good work!

Silver, Pffft. I’m waiting for Tommy to use Unobtainium.
Loren
I didn’t hear about the tour! Can I get in on it?

The cocobolo has a cpvc fipple with delrin plug, and curved windway. There is an internal cpvc sleeve with slot to achieve the curve.
There have been requests to be added to the on going tour. That number was limited to allow the whistles to return to me before December.
I am willing to send a curly maple on a limited tour. Send a PM if you are interested. There is only enough time for a few more before they need to come back.
Thank you
Tommy
(edit Oct/11/06) I have enough people for this limited tour.

Try putting the whistles on a medium/neutral grey background. You will get a much better exposure that way. They look very light because your camera was exposing for the darker green background.
Alcona
(Edited to add that the whistles are beautiful!)
Thank you Alcona, I belive you are correct. Some of the best whistle pictures I have taken were on a white backdrop and a very overcast day.
The aperture was open all the way, and I let the camera set the lens speed.
A white background will actually take it in the opposite direction and make the whistles darker, but it’s not nearly as noticeable. If you can go right up close to the whistles and get a reading and keep that, you should be able to use any background you wanted ![]()
Three of these pretties arrived here on tour today..I’ve only had a few minutes to play them, but so far I’m very impressed. Tommy, you’ve got something here fer sure. I’ll post more when I have a chance to play them more extensively.
For sure Paul! Tommy has made some dandy whistles there! I’m looking forward to owning one.
Cocobolo, sexy.
If it sounds as it looks…Any sound clips, pls?
(This may have been asked previously, but I missed it…)
What’s with the white PVCish whistle head? It looks like a Whitecap. Is
that just an experiment to see if PVC’s better than a wood fipple/ramp?
