‘‘Whistles of Wood’’ are made by Tommy Dion in Santa Fe, Texas. My last commercial post ( http://chiffboard.mati.ca/viewtopic.php?p=652114&hightlight=#652114 ) was April 12 2007. There were two separate tours, and I have sold several batches since. I make them of several different hardwoods with brass ends and delrin plugs to reduce moisture cling. I recently started to make some with a delrin head for those that do not like brass. They are still $150.00 plus mailing. In 2008 I will be bringing the price up on the delrin heads as they do require more machine work than the brass. The tone holes are beveled on the top to make a better seal, and more comfort to the fingers. The tone holes are beveled on the inside to allow the air to flow more smoothly.
I make my whistles with medium volume. They are from top to bottom.

The white streak on the head of the cocobolo is a reflexion.
Those are some fine looking whistles, Tommy. Not quite as pretty as the one you made me in olive wood … but close. Sweetest C whistle I have, bar none.
As an owner of one of Tommy’s whistles, I just wanted to chime in and say how much I love it. It is very well made and has an incredibly smooth tone. It was a beauty too.
From top to bottom, canary wood tone holes(the color in this photo is to dark), curly maple tone holes, canary wood profile (this is more the correct color), curly maple profile. They both are in the key of D. The curly maple is all wood except for the tuning slide that is brass.
Great to see those whistles, Tommy. I know I was in communication with you earlier about mouthpieces made out of alternate materials than brass for those that want something other than brass on their lips. I’m sure I’ll be a repeat customer.
Tommy’s whistles are among the affordable wooden whistles one can purchase so I’d recommend them to anyone thinking about taking the leap and going wood.
