Just went to see Ladder 49 (good fire department movie, BTW with terrific effects and good acting).
At a couple of points there’s a recurring tune played on a mid-range whistle which is very effective.
I noticed the whistle playing too. It was very nice. My wife knew one of the songs…she said it was one Mary Black had recorded. There was even a St. Paddy’s Day scene in the movie.
I enjoyed the movie!
The opening had some great Horn playing ~ just what I like, good whistle, good French Horn, good movie. Pass the popcorn!

I also saw Ladder 49 recently and really enjoyed the Irish music in the soundtrack.
I, unlike most folks, waited throught the end credits to find out who performed the whistle parts.
It was none other than Eric Rigler. I just figure if it’s uilleann or whistle, it’s Eric these days. If you are reading this Eric, greetings from NorCal.
Eric has been really busy these days with movie soundtracks. Troy, The Road to Perdition, and Ladder 49 to name just a few.
