Whistle Distribution Business

I have been thinking for a while about setting up an Internet business for selling musical instruments, mainly whistles, flutes etc. The main reason that I am considering this is that it is very difficult to find a distributor here in Canada…we almost always have to go to the US and pay customs, duty, exchange rate etc. which very often is as much as the whistle itself.

I am looking for input/advise on where to start, what are the pitfalls, what kind of capital I would neeed to set it up etc. Are there any resources on the web that I can go to to get information? Has anyone else tried this? Anything (positive or negative)that would help me make my decision would be appreciated.

Thanks in Advance

The same thought occurred to me when I realized how awkward it can be for us Canadians to buy whistles. However, it would take someone with more knowledge and business sense than I possess. I know there are lots of courses on setting up a small business, and I bet many of these would include info on internet businesses. Community colleges might be one place to look, but there are others. If you decide to go for it, I wish you the best of luck.
