Which glue for leather bag?

I did a search on the forum and one that came up was “Shoe Goo”
I’m about to put together the David day leather bag kit. Any other recommendations for glue?

Shoe goo is not strong enough to glue a bag together.

David Daye uses barge cement for his leather bags. My first set of pipes was the Daye leather bag and bellows, and they lasted long enough for me until I upgraded. Worth noting though that the glued seams themselves were the first spots of airtightness failure, but by then they had already proved their usefulness to me. YMMV

I made several vinyl bags perhaps 10 years ago using 3m marine adhesive 5200, and they’re entirely airtight to this day. I even retied a lefthanded bag as a righthanded one and it remains airtight after filling in the leftover hole with the same glue, so that would be my recommendation.

I would second Torrin Riáin´s suggestion. Along the same lines would be Sikaflex Marine products. They are flexible and stick to most anything (wear gloves!), and often times form bonds stronger than the materials being joined. In my experience with marine joinery the wood itself would tear apart before the glue joint itself. A little more expensive, but you only need to do the job once. The 3M product mught be a little more readily available.

Thank you! I was able to find the 3M !
