What are YOU listening to?

I myself am revisiting my progressive rock roots. (Yes, I have actually played a mellotron.)

Genesis: The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway

Andy Carlson band: log-a-rhythm

My only complaint: nobody should be allowed to be that tallented. :sniffle:

Brazilian Girls (techno band), Ronan Browne & Peadar O’Loughlin’s “South West Wind,” tapes I made from last year’s Willie Clancy Week.

Justine

Just the usual, but the music I like isn’t really any certain genre…Sinéad O’Connor, Tori Amos, David Bowie (which is not usual but a friend sent me two Bowie songs partially in German and he’s funny in German), Culture Club, Enya (don’t shoot me, anybody) RuPaul, Fiona Apple, Garbage, Dolly Parton, The Mamas And The Papas, Loretta Lynn, Grace Slick, The Spice Girls, k.d. Lang, Nena, Silverchair…

Also, I bought this CD

http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B00004TY0D/qid=1111720625/sr=1-12/ref=sr_1_12/104-0237532-1279916?v=glance&s=music

of German folk songs recently, and I really like it but I can’t follow what they’re saying much. I think a whistle is even played, but it might be a piccolo. I can’t tell.

glauber, I listened to the clips of The Andy Carlson Band on cdbaby.com. That’s superb music. Thank you.

ah yesss…
“Wonder women you can draw your blind!
Don’t look at me! I’m not your kind.
I’m Rael!”

many memories… probably many more if i hadn’t smoked all that funky stuff during that time in my life…

actually i’m being boring right now and listening to ITM again (Angelina Carberry and Martin Quinn to be specific).

and no funky stuff… well, funky shiraz.

I’m working with a friend on arranging a bunch of songs for performance so I’m listening to a lot of recorded versions to try to figure out what instrumentation to use and how to make the songs truly ‘us.’ Some of the songs are obscure but amongst the better known ones are Reynardine, Willie O’Winsbury, Delia, Penny’s Farm and October Song. For example, I had the idea of doing October Song with a drone but Dick Gaughan has already done that and it’s best not to invite comparison with Dick Gaughan.

I’ve also been listening to some 60s British jazz: The Rendell/Carr group, Tubby Hayes, Graham Collier, Mike Westbrook. (Eldarion has also been listening to the same Rendell/Carr album; it must have something to do with time zones.)

I’ve also been listening to the Toshiko Akioshi/Lew Tabackin Big Band: one of the great undeservedly neglected bands from the 70s.

At this moment I’m listening to the white noise machines in our office space.

Louis Prima and Keeley Smith offa Napster.

And Aaron Copeland’s Hoedown

Right now I’m listening to Chris Norman’s “Beauty of the North.” Been listening mostly to Chris and Frankie Kennedy (Altan) lately. Would be listening to more Deirdre Havlin (Deanta) if there was more available.

I’ve got a lot of respect for David Bowie’s music. I’ve recently been admiring the melody of “Life on Mars.”

Dale

I’m listening to choir music for my choir’s Easter performance. Included is a modern arrangement for Handel’s Messiah. Hallejuhah.

I also listen to recent American Idol performances recorded from the TV show.

Combining monotheism and idolatry… interesting.

This morning it was Paddy Keenan’s “Brown Album”.

Dale–I haven’t listened to the Lamb in ages–need to pull it off the shelf. When I saw the other thread concerning “who is Lilith”, I’ll admit that the first thought to pop into my head was “Lillywhite Lilith”.

As for the question posed in this thread, I listened to John McCusker’s “Goodnight Ginger” CD on my way to work–great CD.

got two battlefield band cds in my car, leaving friday harbour and rain/hail/shine.
At home, oh, mike katz’s solo piping cd, hot stuff..

Ah, a classic. My boyfriend is trying to learn the Johnny Keenan version of “Job of Journeywork” off of that. (It’s quite a challenge).

:sniffle: :sniffle:

Sean McGuire CD’s..

If you have to ask, you’ll never know.

Slan,
D.

Me? I’m listening to Debbie Quigley, Ray Caldwell, Virgil Colby and myself playing tunes from last night…

Mmmmm mini-tionals… (ok, super mini…)
