What a great day!

Other than getting up at 4:00 a.m., which is not something I ever do happily, today was absolutely brilliant! I’m utterly and completely exhausted, but it’s been a long time since I’ve had such fun! We danced and played the sun up at the Santa Cruz Lighthouse, accompanied by gulls, sea lions and crashing waves…and what a beautiful sunrise it was, too! Then, after a hearty breakfast, we danced in two locations downtown, then went out to the Homeless Garden Project (a small farm in Santa Cruz that teaches homeless people how to garden, and then helps them sell the produce at area farmers markets to raise money for basic essentials), where we danced in a fallow field and then had a May Pole. Had a break for lunch and to let the kids run around, then danced for a good couple of hours on the covered bridge in Felton before heading up to the Boulder Creek Brewery for dinner and more dancing! I say “we danced”…actually, the kids danced; I played. BTW, the Sweetheart Professional proved to be the perfect Morris whistle…it even held up to the windy conditions at the farm and the noise level in the pub (and yes…at least two people called it a “recorder,” but what the heck…we know better, don’t we?).

I took tons of pics, and will hopefully get them up on our website in a couple of days.

Oh, Redwolf, it sounds like it was such an amazing day.
Your description was so vivid that I felt that I was there!
What fun it must have been. Thanks soooo much for sharing with us.

All the best,
AmyK

Hi Redwolf,
So glad you had a wonderful happy Beltain.
I’ve visited Santa Cruz several times and knew some of the places
you were talking about.
Lolly

It wasn’t a “Beltane” celebration in the neo-pagan sense…just a lot of fun and frolic. I used the term “La Bealtaine” because that’s Irish for “May Day” (i.e., the first day of May).
