A chairde,
I won’t be on much tomorrow (May 1), if at all. I’ll be up at 3:30 a.m. in order to get the Morris kids to the Lighthouse to dance the sun up. After that, it will be all over Santa Cruz County, playing, dancing and feasting the summer in! By the time dinner’s over tomorrow, I’ll probably be ready to collapse!
Keep your fingers crossed for good weather. We’ve had the nastiest, wettest spring in recent memory. I’ll be sure to take lots of pictures.
Lá Bealtaine sona dhaoibh! Samhradh abú!

It all sounds fun - except for the waking-up part!
Enjoy !
It was a gas! As it happens, even the waking up part wasn’t bad…mainly because I woke up anyway at 2:30, and wasn’t able to get back to sleep (I’m paying for that now, though!).
After dancing the sun up at the lighthouse (yes, children, when you’re working on your tans this year, you can thank a Morris Dancer!), and a hearty breakfast at Zachary’s (best breakfast place in Santa Cruz!), we danced at two churches, including my own parish, where we were very well-received. I then took the kids for pizza and for a run around the park while the adults danced at a wedding…but while we were at the park, some people having a birthday party asked if the kids would dance for them, and they were happy to oblige (and to brag about “their gig” when they rejoined the adults). Then we did our usual stint in front of Bookshop Santa Cruz downtown (much to the chagrin of some buskers who had staked out the spot) and finished up at a pub in the mountains where, when the dancers got tired, the accordionist and I gave an impromptu concert of some Irish tunes! I’m so tired I can hardly see straight, but what a great way to spend a day!
I’ll get the pictures up sometime in the next day or so, if anyone’s interested.
