I was recently privileged to spend some time at a Folk Summer School with Sam Pirt of 422, Brian Finnegan and Ed Boyd of Flook and Jock Tyldesley of the New Rope String Band. Each year one of the tutors nominates a charity to which all proceeds of the sale of CD’s of the event is pledged. This year, the charity is one that Sam and his family founded called Sengwer Aid, dedicated to helping the Sengwer tribe in Kenya throw off the shackles of extreme poverty.
I had a sample set of wooden whistles that I had made with me at the School and I have pledged to auction these on behalf of Sengwer Aid (www.sengweraid.co.uk/) and all money raised fom the auction of the 5 whistles will go to help this charity.
