Bernard Overton Low D on ebay

Bernard let me know that there is one of his whistles including the Low Whistle Book on ebay to help raise money for the tsunami victims. It is organised in Brinklow, Warwickshire (where Bernard lives) by the village’s “Wurzel Bush and Tump Folk Clubs” and the “Brinklow Royal British Legion”. Here is the link for it

Happy bidding

P.s edited to say this post is cleared by Dale.

I suppose most of you who’ve been here longer than five minutes will know what I’m about to say. I’ll say it anyway. I play a Bernard-made low D (as well as a lot of other keys) and it’s awesome.

What a way to help the tsunami victims.

Let me chime in with Overton praise too. Mine is an A made by Colin, and I simply love this whistle. Great whistle, great cause.

If only it were tunable…

I can’t seem to find tunable Overtons for sale. I have had to order all of mine from Mr. Goldie (which isn’t a bad thing, just a bit of a wait).

Thanks to Bernard and to Colin for letting us know.

They don’t have to be. None of mine give me any problem. You will need to warm them up to bring them up to A=440 though.

Now, if you were planning to play with a box player who’s out of tune, that would be problem enough even with a tunable whistle.

Agreed-- without a warmup, my Overton is rough going. However, if I hold the head of the whistle for a minute or so in my hands, it warms up quickly and plays perfectly in pitch.

bump… 7 hours to go and already at GBP 175,–, nice one!

Thanks
