Hi all,Welll…After soliciting advice from board members last week,i’ve finally grasped my wallet by the horns,so to speak, and ordered a copeland low ‘D’!!.I ordered the brass model rather than the stirling silver-i may be suffering from rampant WHOA,but i’m not profligate* with my money!! If i have any defence, then I BLAME YOU MICHAEL ESKIN!!! If i hadn’t listened to you playing ‘kiss the maid behind the barrel’ again today,i might have put the Copeland to the back of my mind(A likely story,i’ve had those angels and devils on each shoulder, like in the cartoons, all week)! Anyone received a copeland low d recently,or know what the current wait is like?,The Copeland site looks slightly out of date(no doubt due to their recent move). *my dictionary defines ‘profligate’ as ‘licentious, dissolute,or recklessly extravagant’!
Well, as long as you’re rampant but not profligate! ![]()
hahaha!!!(LOL)
Hey, you’re going to love that Copeland! They have a wonderful sound.
Have you HEARD my playing?(LoL!-must learn to do those smileys).
I’ve bought a whistle from Michael Eskin. It’s a really fine whistle, but I still can’t play like him. ![]()
I want one too.
Here’s a smiley Kevin!

You did right! When you get it, it
will take a couple of months
getting used to, then…
Is it your first low D, Kevin? If so, Jim’s words of caution are very much in order. My Copeland was my third—I’d been playing my Overton for well over a year and my Bartlett for maybe six months when my Copeland arrived. If you have that sort of experience or better, it should be fairly easy to control and yield up that distinctive Copeland sound the very first time you play it.
Either way, you’ll have one of the finest low Ds on the planet.
Thanks for the smileys(where did you find THAT one Selkie!).Yes Chas,Michael sounds one hell of a player, the Copeland sounds really rich and flute like on his clip!In reply to Wombat,I have the following low D’s;Shaw(very breathy-also conical),Susato,Howard(big holes)and Cheiftain(the holes look almost as large as the Howard’s,but it seems a lot easier to play). The Cheiftain gets played most.I can only blame a newbies whoa for having so many low D’s !
