The title to Fiona Apple’s second studio album is the longest in the world and holds the Guiness record. The full title is this:
When the Pawn Hits the Conflict He Thinks Like a King What He
Knows Throws the Blows When He Goes To The Fight And He’ll Win
The Whole Thing ‘Fore He Enters The Ring There’s No Body To
Batter When Your Mind Is Your Might So When You Go Solo, You
Hold Your Own Hand And Remember That Depth Is The Greatest Of
Heights And If You Know Where You Stand, Then You Know Where
To Land And If You Fall It Won’t Matter, Cuz You’ll Know That You’re
Right.
Also, this is the cover to Sinéad O’Connors first studio album (as released in Europe, but not America):
I hate that album, but I love it at the same time. I hate it. When he sings “Rape Me” so happily and “I wanna fnck you like an animal,” I can’t help but laugh hysterically and feel horrible for it.
I was so cracked up when I discovered that album I began with that I forgot the albums on my usual list, Chas. The Zappa ‘Weasels’ and the Beefheart ‘Troutmask’ would have to be on any shortlist.
Peter’s selection—Dr.Strangely Strange—is pretty obscure too, as well as weird, but I think it might have been reissued recently. I hope so; I’ve never heard it. There are one or two others a bit like it from that period that I’ll try to dig up tomorrow.
