Ok, this is my first tune that sounds reasonable to me:

Measures 2 and 6 should actually go down to B (FEF DB,B,), but this won’t fit on whistle nor flute, unfortunately.

Does anybody know a tune that sounds too similar? I don’t remember anything, but I might have picked something up I heard before.

(And, I don’t dare to ask, do you like it?)

As for tunes that sound similar, there are a couple bits or so that remind me of other tunes; can’t place them. You’re probably safe, there. Anyway, everybody knows that all trad tunes sound alike. :wink: After all, you can’t speak a language without using the vocabulary.

…which reminds me of something that someone told me about a wedding reception gig his band did. They’d played for a couple of hours (reels, jigs, etc., the lot) when the groom’s mother came up and asked if they wouldn’t mind not playing the same tune over and over. :laughing:

Thanks. I’m still not completely happy with the last two bars of the A part, maybe they will improve over night.

colomon: No, not decided yet. From what’s been going on in my head right now, it would be “Marry her and be happy”, but maybe I find something better. I hope so, actually.

I like it! The B part is stronger, I’d agree. Somehow I hear a hitch around bar 7 of the A part. That could be improved, I think.

But, wow, I’m impressed!

Yes, that’s where I have to look at my own writing when I play it, so it can’t be right… what about BAB E2G|FEF DFA|BAG AGF|GED E3 for the second line of part A instead? It’s only logical, but maybe a bit boring (to the non-ABC-readers, this means the last 3 bars of the A part are the same as the last 3 of the B part, just in the lower octave). Or maybe I really should let it rest overnight.

But, wow, I’m impressed!

Well done. This is a nice tune. The second part is very, very nice. Well played too. I’m going to take it home and learn it, play around with some variations, etc, and maybe I’ll post a clip monday. It’s always fun to hear various people’s interpretation of a tune.
