Joseph Wallis, London. Set up in 1848, went on to deal in brass and woodwind in Paris and London until 1926.
Wallis was the English maker of Giorgi’s vertical flute
(see http://www.mcgee-flutes.com/Giorgi-flute-patent.htm)
Apparently some flutes by Wallis and by Metzler also have the mark of “Townsend, Deansgate, Manchester”. He seems to have been a dealer.

Also to note, he was Scottish maker.
Now you’re not thinking about that other Wallis, as mentioned by Rabbie Burns?
“Scots, wha hae wi’ Wallace bled…”
Terry
“Digitation” sounds much classier than “fingering”.
i have a lovely old Wallis flute, beautiful cocus and bands, that’s a fixer-upper, with tone-hole inserts and such for anyone wanting to buy a nice project.
pm or email off list!
