I went into a music store here in Raleigh, NC and bougt a beautiful old flute.
It is made of Cocus wood and has silver inlay around the embrochure hole and also the finger holes. The keys are the metal pin mounted keyposts like the modern flutes.
It is fully keyed and has the C foot with keys. It hs the large tone holes like the english flutes.
The barrel is of Ivory and the makers name says “London Make”.
There are no other markings. Any idea who made it?
Hi Pat,
Too many variables to say for sure who made it. Of even if in fact it was made in London, though it probably was. Does it play-- are the pads all seating?
Regards to Cathy and hi from Kilshanny.

Terry McGee has a similar fife pictured on his website, his and mine are both block mounted, mine has four keys, I think his has five. Perhaps some of the work on your flute resembles his.
So the headjoint of your flute is all ivory? From what I’ve read that’s unusual for an English flute - it was often used on German flutes, though.
