Itās hard to get your sentences in order when your thoughts are flying all about.
It sounds like Dale Evans had been through quite a bit by the time she and Roy Rogers got married in 1946. He was her fourth and last husband. They were married an awful long time.
She wrote āHappy Trails to Youā in 1950.
I think Lyle Lovett should concern himself with his own life!
Well, it donāt really flow, but I guess I got some paragraphs in there.
I donāt know if Lyle Lovett has a problem.
I just like to think Roy and Dale were happy together.
Western music ended up with a bit of female yodeling, thanks in part to Patsy Montana, I guess. But my favorite for that style was the wacky Judy Canova, shown here in a publicity shot for āOklahoma Annieā.
Well, letās say I finally got our house cleaned up and then it burned down. Wouldnāt that be ironic?
As long as Lyle didnāt mean anything bad about Roy or Dale, Iāll settle for that. I donāt know much about Lyle, but at least I do know who he is. It seems like I read an article in The New Yorker about himāhe seemed nice enough. I think he was living in Texas in some little town that wasnāt too far from some big city. With a woman.
Riding on the range,
Iāve got my hat - on,
Iāve got my boots - dusty.
Iāve got my saddle
On my horse.
Heās calledā¦T-t-t-t-t-trigger
Of course.
I wanna be a cowboy
and you can be my cowgirl
I wanna be a cowboy
and you can be my cowgirl
I wanna be a cowboy
(womanās voice)
Riding on the chuck ⦠wagon,
Following my man.
His name is Ted,
Can you believe that?
Camping on the prairie
Plays havoc with my hair.
Makes me feel quite dirty,
Though we all do sometimes
I wanna be a cowboy
and you can be my cowgirl
I wanna be a cowboy
and you can be my cowgirl
I wanna be a cowboy
Looking like a hero,
Six-gun at my side,
Chewing my tobacco.
Out on the horizon,
I see a puff of smoke.
Indians on the warpath,
(Indian voice) White man speak-em with forked tongue.
Or not.
I wanna be a cowboy
and you can be my cowgirl
I wanna be a cowboy
It looks like he was earning his pay in that picture! I thought Ellen Corby looked familiarāI had to look her up. She was the grandmother in the Waltonās. Judy Canova looks like one wacky gal!
Cynth! Youāve never heard that song? I think it was really popular in the '80s. And now, thanks to djm, Iāll have it running through my head all night
I guess the last sort of popular music I listened to was in the '60ās, so I donāt know any later songs. This seems to have such strange words, and the ending: My name is Ted,
And one day
Iāll be dead yo yo.
What does āIāll be dead yo yo.ā mean?? This makes about as much sense as diddy wa diddy!
I have no idea what it meansā¦I never thought about it really. I donāt think that part stuck out so much when you listened to the song. But it is a rather silly song even when sung
The whole song is silly, delivered in a deadpan voice with a few sound effects and a driving disco beat. āAnd one day Iāll be deadā is basic deadpan poetry (it rhymes, thatās enough), and āyo yoā is making fun of a common vocable in rap music. I remember we were rolling at our desks when this came out, even the boss.
