Finally. The condition of Hexokiloposter has now become a respectable one instead of merely the wages of fluff. How long we have awaited your association and fraternity, Walden!
THAT MUSIC IS NOT PURE CORN! The style is called “Western Swing” and those guys are good. It might not be a style you like, that is okay. I am a fan of “Western Swing”, as are many people. I certainly wouldn’t post an MP3 of it to insult someone! Honestly.
I like Roy Rogers. I adored him when I was little. You can send me a record by him anytime. I’m not an expert on Western Swing but I do like it alot. There’s Cowboy too, and I’m not sure where he fits in really.
This is the Sons of the Pioneers in 1936. On the right is Roy before he was Roy Rogers.
His real name was Len Slye and he was born in Cincinnati.
Western Swing is, in fact, considered the representative form of music of this region, much as jazz is associated with New Orleans, blues is associated with Memphis and Chicago, and country & western with Nashville. Bob Wills and his Texas Playboys were based out of Tulsa during their heyday, at clear channel radio station KVOO.
Those boys made a righteous sound and anybody who doesn’t get it needs to have their pulse checked.
As Walden as noted, it is a perfect blend of all that is great in American music. So many fine musicians blending so many fine styles…how could anyone not love it?
If I were Roy Rogers
I’d sure enough be single
I couldn’t bring myself to marrying old Dale
It’d just be me and trigger
We’d go riding through them movies
Then we’d buy a boat and on the sea we’d sail
-Lyle Lovett-
It sounds like Dale Evans had been through quite a bit by the time she and Roy Rogers got married in 1946. He was her fourth and last husband. She wrote “Happy Trails to You” in 1950. I think Lyle Lovett should concern himself with his own life! They were married an awful long time. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dale_Evans
