Video clips of Orlaith McAuliffe

Hi!

I got a mail from Phil Hardy (the maker of the Chieftain/Kerry Pro whistles) the other day.
He has posted several clips of Orlaith, demonstrating his new Kerry Optima low whistle.

She is an amazing player, so I decided to share the link with you guys in case you missed it.

Yes, missed it. Thanks for posting the link to those.

Stellar! Thanks for the link!

Great stuff! She’s even better on flute! She just won the all-Ireland at first shot this year, though as she’s won all the age groups on the way up that’s no big surprise. Her sister Brogan is no slouch on concertina. Orlaith’s a great lass too - I first met her at the original Cruinniú na bhFliúit in 2006. I had the pleasure of meeting up and playing/flute swapping with her at a session in London a fortnight ago (Wednesday nights, The Nightingale, Wanstead). She’s clever too - just started as a medical student at Imperial College in London (top Uni!!!). I hope she keeps time for her music!

In one of the clips, Orlaith plays a Lehart Eb with Phil on guitar. Skylark is the tune, if I am not mistaken.

Someone is bound to ask, so I will. What are the tunes ? Were any her own ?

I know a few names
Clip 1: ends with Trim the Velvet
Clip 2: The Chapel Bell
Clip 6: Colonel Frasier’s

Unfortunately I’m struggling to get to view the clips - my browser (Firefox) keeps crashing trying to open them (a bad line-speed issue, I suspect). Damn.

I’m a Mac user, but for me it always work better downloading, then watching clips from Kerrywhistles..

I got the email about these… lovely stuff.

Colonel Frasier’s… aw yeah… I think I saw smoke coming off that Eb.

Anyone having trouble viewing these clips? You probably have another media player installed on your computer such as Windows Media Player or RealPlayer or VLC Player, in my case I have all three. Right click on the video thats playing through the default iTunes/QuickTime player and select one you have installed and your good to go.

Just in case I’m not the only one who has this issue - When I try to view any of the video’s on Phil’s site using a PC it always gives me a “plugin missing” message, but when I do the search for a suitable plugin nothing comes up.

So my only option is to save and then view.

Same thing here, Pipe Bender. But I think Phil recommends doing that anyway so he doesn’t get the financial hit for too much bandwidth/data transfer.

Same bandwidth/data transfer either way, unless you’re making repeat views.

 Do you mean there are people who dOn’t do repeat views? gasp! Impossible, surely.
