Update for the Recorder players...

I’ve fundamentally changed and enhanced the way that Baroque Recorder fingering tablature is handled in my ABC Transcription Tools to align it with the new Tin Whistle key and octave system.

The recorder tablature displayed when clicking the Recorder tab selector button (if enabled in the tool’s Settings dialog) is for a Soprano recorder in the key of C by default.

To optionally change the key of the displayed recorder tab, you can include the following annotation anywhere in the ABC for a tune:

% Change the recorder tab key
%recorder_tab_key (key)

Where key is the letter name pitch of the recorder.

For example, to change the recorder tablature to be displayed for an Alto recorder in the key of F:

%recorder_tab_key F

If you wish to shift the tablature up or down one or more octaves, you can include the following annotation anywhere in the ABC for a tune:

% Change the recorder tab octave
%recorder_tab_octave (integer)

For example, to change the recorder tablature to be displayed for a Bass recorder in the key of F, with the pitch to fingering mapping shifted up two octaves:

%recorder_tab_key F
%recorder_tab_octave 2

Note: If after shifting the octaves, particularly when using bass clef, you see a display issue where the tablature partially overlays the notation, you can shift the tablature display down by adding the following command in the ABC for the tune::

% Shift the tab display down
%abcjs_render_params {“tabPadding”:8}

Experiment with the tabPadding value until you get the result you want.

If either annotation is placed in the ABC file header, they will apply to all of the tunes

The feature is in version

2344_030225_0900

or later.

The version number is displayed at the bottom left of the “Settings” dialog.

If your version starts with a number less than 2344, click the version number to do a manual update of the tool.
